Dave Grohl: Sound City-Film.

Herr Grohl hat einfach zu schnell Langeweile. Jetzt hat er ein Filmprojekt am Start. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Dokumentation (ich glaube, es nennt sich dann “Rockumentary” oder so) über das legendäre Tonstudio “Sound City” in L.A., in dem Mitte der 90er  u.a. Nirvana’s Nevermind eingespielt wurde. Demnach hängen natürlich eine Tonne Erinnerungen daran. Im Trailer kann man sehen, wie hochkarätig der Film besetzt ist und wer (u.a.!) zu Wort kommt. Unten gibt’s noch ein paar Namen…

It has nothing to do with industry or finance, it’s just people that want music and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s the same as someone turning on the fucking radio, it’s the same as someone putting a cassette in a cassette deck when the BBC plays a special radio session. I don’t think it’s a crime, it’s been going on for years. It’s the same as people making tapes for each other. The industry is more threatened by it because it’s the worldwide web and it’s a broader scope of trading, but I don’t think it’s such a fucking horrible thing. The first thing we should do is get all the fucking millionaires to shut their mouths, stop bitching about the 25 cents a time they’re losing.”

Foo Fighters spielen “Wasting Light” live aus Dave Grohl’s Garage

Und mal wieder eine ziemlich coole Promo-Aktion: die neue Platte der Foo Fighters, “Wasting Light”, die seit dem 8. April in den Läden steht, wird in diesem 49 Minuten langen Video live präsentiert. Als Bühne dient dabei die Garage an Dave Grohl’s Haus, in dem die Platte auch aufgenommen worden ist. Viel Spaß!

…übrigens: wenn man etwas genauer hinguckt kann man hinter der Glasscheibe im Regie-Raum Meister Butch Vig himself und höchstpersönlich erkennen. Der Gute hat “Wasting Light” ja auch produziert.

In einem kleinen Video-Feature führt Dave Grohl die Herren Musikredakteure des NME durch das Studio, in dem das neue Foo Fighters-Album, das 2011 erscheint, aufgenommen und gemixt worden ist. Dabei handelt es sich zu großen Teilen um seine Garage, die zumindest für die Schlagzeug-Aufnahmen umfunktioniert wurde. UND es gibt keine digitalen Aufnahmegeräte, sondern nur analoge Tonbandgeräte und analoge Mischpulte etc. Großartig! Man darf gespannt sein.
